Eight Soldiers competing in the U.S. Forces Command Soldier of the Year competition attempt to shoot as many targets while mortar simulations go off during the markmenship event here at Joint Base Lewis-McChord, July 28. The four-day competition pits eight Soldiers and eight NCO's against one another in order to determine the best of the best from active-duty, National Guard and U.S. Army Reserve Soldiers under U.S. Forces Command.
