Then-Staff Sgt. Joseph Potalivo, 50th Security Forces Squadron, was returning from a deployment on American Airlines Flight 1506, Feb. 4, 2016, when he witnessed an intoxicated passenger causing a disturbance and creating a safety issue for the surrounding passengers. Using his military experience, Potalivo gathered his fellow defenders to successfully restrain the individual and assist in allowing the plane to safely land at their destination (Potalivo has since separated from the Air Force).
