U.S. Air Force retired Colonel Robert Blake, son of Lt. Gen. Gordon A. Blake, stands by the memorial plaque honoring his father during the tower dedication ceremony at Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam, Hawaii Dec. 5, 2016. During the attack on Pearl Harbor and Oahu Dec. 7, 1941, then Major Blake was the base operations officer at Hickam Field and earned the Silver Star for his actions.. Dec. 7, 2016, marks the 75th commemoration of the attacks and the U.S. military and state of Hawaii are hosting a series of remembrance events to honor the Pacific Theater's veterans.
