Durward Swanson (left) sings a song he wrote in memoriam of his friend, Sgt. James Strickland, during the dedication ceremony of Strickland's memorial marker Dec. 4, 2016, at Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam, Hawaii. Strickland was killed near the memorial marker by Japanese gunfire during the attack on Pearl Harbor and Oahu Dec. 7, 1941.
