USS MAKIN ISLAND, Pacific Ocean (October 26, 2016) – Sgt. Josue Quiroz inspects the bore of an M3 81mm mortar tube with a bore sight fiber optic camera in the armory of the USS Makin Island (LHD-8) while afloat in the Pacific Ocean, October 26, 2016. The bore sight camera device, used to assess the firing condition of the mortar tube, consists of a fiber optic camera and LED light attached to a finned rod, which provides a video feed deep into the tube where it otherwise is too difficult to see with the human eye alone. Quiroz is an armorer with 1st Light Armored Reconnaissance Company, 11th Marine Expeditionary Unit. (U.S. Marine Corps photo by Lance Cpl. Devan K. Gowans/Released)
