USS MAKIN ISLAND, At Sea (October 20, 2016) – Sgt. Roger Duquecolarte picks up spent ammunition casings and links after an M240B medium machine gun live-fire range aboard the USS Makin Island (LHD 8) Oct. 20, 2016. A range aboard ship is commonly referred to as a “deck shoot” and afterwards all trash, casings and linkage must be picked up and disposed of to avoid the risk of the refuse becoming a serious hazard on the flight deck of the ship. Duquecolarte is the assistant headquarters commandant for the 11th Marine Expeditionary Unit. (U.S. Marine Corps photo by Staff Sgt. Scott McAdam/Released)
