U.S. Marine Col. Thomas Prentice, commanding officer of Special Purpose Marine Air-Ground Task Force – Southern Command, awards Staff Sgt. Michael Swisse, maintenance staff non-commissioned officer in charge with SPMAGTF - SC a Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal for being the sole maintenance controller and managing 500 maintenance checks and repairs to ensure the safety of all aircrafts assigned to the task force, during an award ceremony at Soto Cano Air Base, Honduras, Oct. 27, 2016. JTF Matthew, a U.S. Southern Command-directed team, was comprised of over 400 Marines, soldiers, and airmen on the ground in Haiti supporting the U.S. Agency of International Development’s disaster relief operations by providing critical airlift capabilities during the vital early stages after the island country was struck by Hurricane Matthew.
