U.S. Soldiers assigned to the 1st Battalion, 124th Infantry Regiment, Florida Army National Guard, assigned to Combined Joint Task Force-Horn of Africa, complete a water obstacle course as part of the French Marines Desert Survival Course at Arta Plage, Djibouti. Oct. 10, 2016. Approximately 46 U.S. Soldiers with French Marines completed several tasks during the survival course, including desert operations, combat lifesaving skills, weapons training, survival cooking, how to decontaminate water, and water and mountain obstacle courses. Combined Joint Task Force-Horn of Africa is a multinational effort to conduct theater security cooperation, combat violent extremism and enable freedom of movement within East Africa in order to defend U.S. interests and support aligned regional efforts.
