Command Sgt. Maj. Benjamin Jones of Combined Joint Task Force-Operation Inherent Resolve, conveys the significance of their mission to soldiers with Delta Company, 1st battalion, 26th Infantry Regiment, October 2016. The mission of D/1-26 IN is to support Operation Inherent Resolve (OIR) as the Taji Military Complex Base (TMC) Defense Operations Cell and Security Force to protect U.S. and Coalition forces and civilian agencies operating within the TMC in order to enable the military defeat of Da’esh (an Arabic acronym for ISIL). The mission of OIR is to defeat Da’esh in Iraq and Syria by supporting the Government of Iraq with trainers, advisors and fire support, to include aerial strikes and artillery fire.
