SAN DIEGO – Naval Facilities Engineering and Expeditionary Warfare Center (NAVFAC EXWC) Dry Dock Subject Matter Expert Paul Rossetti, inspects the structural members of Naval Base San Diego’s (NBSD) Graving Dock 1's caisson main ballast tank. The caisson holds back the San Diego Bay waters from the dry dock. NAVFAC EXWC and Naval Sea Systems Command (NAVSEA) inspection team conducted a tri-annual Dry Dock Certification Audit of NBSD's Graving Dock 1 to ensure structural and mechanical systems of the dock are adequate to dry dock U.S. Navy ships.
