U.S. and Philippine Marines explain the purpose of Philippine Amphibious Landing Exercise 33 (PHIBLEX) to Jefferson Soriano, mayor of Tuguegarao City, Philippines, while on a visit to the city, Oct. 6, 2016. U.S. Marines with 3d Marine Expeditionary Brigade, III Marine Expeditionary Force, are in the Philippines to participate in an engineering civic assistance project during PHIBLEX 33. PHIBLEX is an annual U.S.-Philippine military bilateral exercise that combines amphibious capabilities and live-fire training with humanitarian civic assistance efforts to strengthen interoperability and working relationships.
