JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (Sept. 8, 2016) – Lt. Jason Bond, a physician assistant at Naval Hospital (NH) Jacksonville’s Orthopedics Clinic, discusses knee pain treatment options with a patient. NH Jacksonville is piloting value-based care, which organizes care around patients with similar medical conditions. NH Jacksonville has developed four multidisciplinary teams — called Integrated Practice Units (IPUs) — for diabetes, low back pain, osteoarthritis, and complicated pregnancy. The goal is improved patient outcomes, increased readiness, higher patient satisfaction, and improved value with optimal resource utilization.
