Coast Guardsmen stationed on the Cutter Sherman from Honolulu search a suspected drug smuggling vessel following a three-hour chase 270-miles south of Guatemala in the Eastern Pacific Ocean July 27, 2016. Three suspected smugglers were also detained and 1,990 pounds of cocaine was seized by Coast Guardsmen. Operation Martillo is a joint, interagency and multinational collaborative effort to deny transnational criminal organizations air and maritime access to the littoral regions of the Central American isthmus.
