North Carolina Army National Guard soldiers assigned to the 630th Combat Sustainment Support Battalion, turn in Multiple Integrated Laser Engagement Systems (MILES) at the Rotational Unit Bivouac Area during the 16-07 National Training Center rotation at Fort Irwin, California on June 22, 2016. MILES are mounted onto military vehicles and personnel providing a realistic battlefield environment by simulating damage sustained to personnel and vehicles during force-on-force training exercises to enhance soldiers’ individual and collective training. The NTC is a training facility designed to simulate real-life combat scenarios testing warriors’ readiness utilizing their military occupational specialty in a high-up-tempo environment.
