Tech. Sgt. Alfred Semenec, 557th Expeditionary Rapid Engineer Deployable Heavy Operation Repair Squadron of Engineers equipment operator, uses a plate compactor during construction of a new carrier yard to be used by private shipping companies at Joint Base Balad, Iraq, April 27. The carrier yard is relocating as part of the construction of the All American Square. Semenec is deployed from Otis Air National Guard Base, Mass., and is a native of Boston, Mass. RED HORSE is an elite Air Force engineer squadron, whose main function is to take a strip of uninhabited land and turn it into a fully functioning base with running water, shelters and power.
