Jeffrey Bowman, 557th Expeditionary Rapid Engineer Deployable Heavy Operation Repair Squadron of Engineers equipment operator, uses a backhoe to dig up dirt during construction of a new carrier yard to be used by private shipping companies at Joint Base Balad, Iraq, April 27. RED HORSE is an elite Air Force engineer squadron, whose main function is to take a strip of uninhabited land and turn it into a fully functioning base with running water, shelters and power.
