Shawn DeVera, with the U.S. Army Reserve's 962nd Quartermaster Company (Mortuary Affairs) reads off the number on the human remains pouch tag, one final time during Mortuary Affairs Exercise 16-02, July 22, at Fort Pickett, Va. There is a constant chain of custody of human remains and personal effects with checks and rechecks all along the way even in an exercise environment. MAX 16-02 included all six U.S. Army Reserve Mortuary Affairs units performing search and recovery missions and operating Mortuary Affairs Collection Points and a Theater Mortuary Evacuation Point.
