Captain Katelynn Pinsent is the Administration Officer at the Canadian Forces School of Aerospace Studies at 17 Wing Winnipeg, Manitoba. She has been a Canadian Armed Forces member for more than nine years and currently deployed on Exercise Rim of the Pacific 2016 in Hawaii.
She is the Joint Coalition Administration Officer for RIMPAC and her duties include coordinating the arrival and departure of coalition personnel, transport, accommodations, and day-to-day administrative requirements to make sure personnel in the coalition are able to carry out their duties as required.
“I grew up in a military family that always inspired me to explore the various opportunities available to me in the CAF. My parents were in the Air Force and encouraged me to pursue a career in the CAF as a Logistics Officer,” said Pinsent.
“My favorite part of RIMPAC so far has been getting to work with other elements outside of the Air Force. Being part of a joint exercise gives me the opportunity to see how the Navy and Army operate in an environment that I wouldn’t usually find myself in back in Winnipeg.”
Twenty-six nations, more than 40 ships and submarines, more than 200 aircraft and 25,000 personnel are participating in RIMPAC from June 30 to Aug. 4, in and around the Hawaiian Islands and Southern California. The world's largest international maritime exercise, RIMPAC provides a unique training opportunity that helps participants foster and sustain the cooperative relationships that are critical to ensuring the safety of sea lanes and security on the world's oceans. RIMPAC 2016 is the 25th exercise in the series that began in 1971. (Canadian Forces Combat Camera photo by Corporal Brett White-Finkle)
