Staff Sgt. James Eric, 3rd Platoon, 573rd Clearance Company, 1st Engineer Battalion, 130th Engineer Brigade, uses a jackhammer to loosen up the concrete in a culvert. The engineers attempted to make the culvert's opening larger so they could install a "Lapeer kit," which is faster and more efficient than creating a metal grate.
