African Partnership Station West Commander Capt. Cindy Thebaud speaks to Senegalese armed forces Col. Edouard Mbengue, zone -7 base commander, during a tour of the Senegalese zone-7 military base. The base is currently under renovation by U.S. Naval Mobile Construction Battalion 7 and has U.S. Marines from Security Cooperation Marine Air-Ground Task Force conducting military–to–military familiarization exercises with Senegalese Military all in support of the Africa Partnership Station West 2010. APS is an international initiative developed by Naval Forces Europe and Naval Forces Africa, which aims to work cooperatively with U.S. and international partners to improve maritime safety and security in West and Central Africa.
