(June 8, 2016) Members of the Navy Region Northwest (NRNW) Crisis Action Team conduct a briefing in the NRNW Regional Operations Center while participating in the major earthquake exercise Cascadia Rising. Emergency responders and personnel from various federal, state, and local agencies across the Pacific Northwest participated in the emergency preparedness exercise, which was coordinated by the Federal Emergency Management Administration (FEMA). The exercise simulated a 9.0-magnitude earthquake along the Cascadia Subduction Zone, requiring participants to test their ability to respond to such a wide-scale disaster.
