SMITH, Hawaii (June 8, 2016) - Ross Roley, U.S. Pacific Command Director for Joint Innovation and Experimentation, speaks with Dr. Elizabeth Sherwood-Randall, U.S. Department of Energy Deputy Secretary, while touring the Smart Power Infrastructure Demonstration for Energy Reliability and Security (SPIDER) facility on board Camp H. M. Smith, Hawaii. The facility integrates solar, diesel, and power from the Hawaiian electrical grid to provide reliable power to the U. S. Pacific Command Headquarters in order for it to lead operations supporting security and freedom of navigation, in cooperation with partner nations, throughout the Indo-Asia Pacific.
