Lt. Col. Eric C. Malinowski, commanding officer of Combat Logistics Battalion-31, 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit, III Marine Expeditionary Force, relinquishes command of the battalion to Lt. Col. Siebrand H. Niewenhous IV during a change of command ceremony June 2, 2016 at Camp Hansen, Okinawa, Japan. Malinowski assumed command of CLB-31 in June 2014, and has lead the battalion through multiple international training exercises, as well as disaster relief efforts after Super Typhoon Soudelor in Saipan during August 2015, and Operation Chinzei after a series of earthquakes in Kumamoto, Japan in April 2016.
