CANADIAN FORCES BASE WAINWRIGHT, Alberta – Specialist Merrill Jeffery, of Spokane, Washington, with the 1st Battalion, 161st Infantry Regiment, Washington State Army National Guard, operates an automatic weapon as part of a scout platoon participating in Exercise Maple Resolve 16 at CFB Wainwright, Alberta, May 30, 2016. As part of the approximately 1,200 U.S. service members participating, along with other NATO troops, the 1/161 is helping train the Canadian Army’s 1st Canadian Mechanized Brigade Group as a “high readiness” brigade, ready to deploy worldwide.
