160527-N-ST310-001 NEW YORK (MAY 27, 2016) Gold Star family member, Bill McNaughton of Centereach, N.Y., wears his Gold Star Dad shirt proudly in remembrance of his son, James, who died in 2005 while serving as an Army Soldier in Iraq. Gold Star families were given the opportunity to tour USS Bataan (LHD 5), May 27, in conjunction with 2016 Fleet Week New York (FWNY). The event, now in its 28th year, is the city’s celebration of the sea services and gives an opportunity for the citizens of New York City and the surrounding tri-state area to meet Sailors, Marines and Coast Guardsmen.
