SAN ANTONIO – (April 18, 2016) Weslaco, Texas native, Logistics Specialist 1st Class Selene Mejia, Navy Recruiting Station Northeast, interacts with Ellie Travis of Kerrville, Texas, while her mother, Marina Travis, and Senior Chief Navy Counselor Daniel Christmas, division leading chief petty officer, Navy Recruiting District San Antonio looks on. Ellie and her twin sister, Callie, received Navy ball caps at the Baptist Regional Children’s Hospital during San Antonio Navy Week. Navy Weeks, coordinated by the Navy Office of Community Outreach, are designed to give Americans the opportunity to learn about the Navy, its people and its importance to national security and prosperity. Since 2005, the Navy Week program has served as the Navy's flagship outreach effort into areas of the country without a significant Navy presence, with 181 Navy Weeks being held in 68 different U.S. cities.
