Head of the French Joint Medical Corps for the Southern Indian Ocean, Brig. Gen. J.M. Clere, and guests review pilot charts of the Indian Ocean with the ship's civilian Master, Capt. Joseph Sohlberg, during a tour of the High Speed Vessel Swift. The Swift and the frigate USS Nicholas are in Reunion to pick up supplies and provide personnel with an opportunity for some liberty before they continue with their mission in support of Africa Partnership Station East. APS East is aimed at strengthening global maritime partnerships through training and other collaborative activities in order to improve maritime safety and security in Africa, and is being conducted in cooperation with Commander, U.S. Naval Forces Africa and U.S. Africa Command.
