Matt Zirkle, commander, Submarines NATO, climbs aboard a P-3C Orion maritime patrol aircraft, assigned to Patrol Squadron (VP) 9, during a visit to Naval Air Station Sigonella on March 3, 2016. Zirkle flew to observe the P-3C Orion’s capabilities during NATO’s anti-submarine warfare exercise Dynamic Manta 2016 (DYMA 16). DYMA 16 involved ships, submarines, aircraft and personnel from eight Allied nations converging on the central Mediterranean Sea for anti-submarine warfare and anti-surface warfare training.
