Sgt. Major Karl D. Simburger relinquishes his sword, which symbolizes his duties as base sergeant major, to Col. Sekou S. Karega, base commanding officer during a Relief and Appointment ceremony aboard Marine Corps Logistics Base Barstow, Calif., March 3. The sword was then given to Sgt. Major Sergio Martinez, incoming base sergeant major as he steps in to his new role. Sgt. Major Simburger has been reassigned to Wounded Warrior Regiment in Quantico, VA.
