    A smoke grenade is set off to begin a joint simulated amphibious assault with Indonesian marines and U.S. Marines and Sailors from 2nd Battalion, 4th Marine Regiment, during Landing Force Cooperation Afloat Readiness and Training (LF CARAT) 2015 on Bama Beach, East Java, Indonesia, Aug. 8, 2015. LF CARAT is meant to strengthen, increase the interoperability in amphibious planning and operations and the core skill sets between the United States and the nations of Indonesia, Malaysia, and Thailand.
