160122-N-EH218-067 PACIFIC OCEAN (Jan. 22, 2016) – Gunner’s Mate 2nd Class David Owen, from Portland, Ore., monitors the control panel of a Mk-45 Mod. 4 five-inch gun during a naval surface fire support exercise aboard the guided-missile cruiser USS Mobile Bay (CG 53). Mobile Bay, assigned to the John C. Stennis Carrier Strike Group, is part of the Great Green Fleet, a yearlong initiative highlighting the Department of the Navy's efforts to transform its energy use to increase operational capability. Providing a combat-ready force to protect collective maritime interests, the John C.
