    PACIFIC OCEAN (Jan. 20, 2016) -- Gunner's Mate Seaman Nicholas Pierce, from Canon City, Colo., fires a shot line to the Fleet Replenishment Oiler USNS Guadalupe (T-AO 200) during an underway replenishment aboard the guided-missile destroyer USS William P. Lawrence (DDG 110). William P. Lawrence, assigned to the John C. Stennis Carrier Strike Group, is part of the Great Green Fleet, a year-long initiative highlighting the Department of the Navy's efforts to transform its energy use to increase operational capability. Providing a combat-ready force to protect collective maritime interests, the John C.
