Kevin McDonald, a 52-year-old Yankton, S.D, native, holds the Coast Guard Silver Lifesaving medal he received for his part in the rescue of a 6-year-old-girl and her grandmother, Dec. 16, 2015. Gary McDonald, his brother Kevin McDonald and Doug Stockholm received the Coast Guard Silver Lifesaving medal for their heroic actions on July 7, 2011. After noticing a woman and a girl floating in the strong current of the flooded lake, they swam to them and spent the next thirty minutes battling strong currents to get the pair to safety.
