Artillerymen of 1st Battalion, 41st Field Artillery Regiment fire M109 Alpha 6 Paladins, on Tapa Army Base, Nov. 27. Capt. Peter Beamer, battery commander of Alpha Battery, 1st Batt., 41st Field Artillery Reg. stated that, “earlier this morning we did a demonstration for Estonian leadership personnel and the Estonian Ministry of Defense; we occupied this firing point and fired some fire missions to demonstrate the maneuver capabilities of mechanized artillery and the speed at which we can process fire missions.” Beamer also added that these are the first self-propelled artillery pieces to fire on Estonian soil since the Soviet occupation. These activities are part of the U.S. Army Europe-led Operation Atlantic Resolve land force assurance training taking place across Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania and Poland to enhance multinational interoperability, strengthen relationships among allied militaries, contribute to regional stability and demonstrate U.S. commitment to NATO.
