SASEBO, Japan (Nov. 11, 2015) – Maj. Daeyong Ku passes a ceremonial Mameluke sword to Capt. Jeffrey Ward, commanding officer of forward-deployed amphibious assault ship USS Bonhomme Richard (LHD 6), to cut the cake as the guest of honor during a celebration of the U.S. Marine Corps 240th birthday. Bonhomme Richard is the lead ship of the Bonhomme Richard Amphibious Ready Group and is forward-deployed to Sasebo, Japan, in the U.S. 7th Fleet area of operations.
