An elderly man wearing a traditional red-and-white keffiyeh (ghutrah) and black agal headband is working at a jewelry crafting workbench, carefully manipulating fine wire or thread with pliers. He is surrounded by an extensive collection of beads, pearls, and jewelry-making supplies stored in numerous yellow-lidded glass jars on wooden shelves. The setting appears to be a traditional jewelry or bead shop, likely in the Arabian Gulf region.

A Qatari pearl diver completes a necklace for U.S. Army Sgt. Mary Phillips, from Boone, N.C., at Souq Waqif in Doha, Qatar, Nov. 28, 2009. Phillips was enjoying a four-day pass from military commitments in Iraq, by participating in the U.S. Central Command rest and recuperation pass program in Qatar. Souq Waqif is one of Qatar's oldest trading establishments. At dusk, the souq filled with patronage as Eid Al Adha celebrations commemorated the Islamic holiday.
