Marines prepare to raid Combat Town, at the Central Training Area, Okinawa, Japan, Oct. 26, 2015. Marines rode into Combat Town on amphibious assault vehicles from shore. The event was part of Blue Chromite 2016, which builds cohesion among elements of the Marine Air Ground Task Force. Blue Chromite is a large-scale, cost-effective on-island exercise led by 4th Marine Regiment. Each element of III Marine Expeditionary Force is represented in Blue Chromite. The training gives Navy and Marine units the opportunity to complete high-level, cost-effective training in a realistic, expeditionary environment. The Marines, from Alpha Company, 1st Battalion, 2nd Marine Regiment, 4th Marine Regiment, are currently assigned to 4th Marine Regiment, 3rd Marine Division, III Marine Expeditionary Force, under the unit deployment program.
