2nd Lt. Aaron Meek, a forward observer from Echo Battery, 2nd Battalion, 12th Marine Regiment, receives target location information provided by scout observers during Artillery Relocation Training Exercise 09-03, Nov. 7. According to Meek, the scout observers are the eyes of the battery and without them, the artillery unit loses power, range, and the ability to shape the battlefield.
