South Carolina National Guard Soldiers from the 741st Quartermaster Battalion remove hoses from a reservoir on the grounds of Richland Memorial Hospital, Oct 8. The 741st Quartermaster Battalion and 218th Brigade Support Battalion worked together to purify water for the hospital, using water treatment equipment, since most of Columbia was under a boil-water advisory. Guardsmen have been assisting in a variety of ways throughout the state after the worst rains and flooding in recorded history. The S.C. National Guard was on call before the storms hit and continued to provide support to the state’s citizens and fulfilled requests from the governor and other state authorities. (Photo by Sgt.
