Sgt. Jahbril S. Nwosu currently serves as a Marine Corps senior drill instructor with Platoon 4034, Oscar Company, 4th Recruit Training Battalion, at Marine Corps Recruit Depot Parris Island, S.C. Nwosu joined the Marine Corps in August 2007 and became a drill instructor in June 2013. Nwosu is a native of Atlanta. “I wanted to change the mentality of some of the females in the Marine Corps. I wanted to serve as a positive role model to those who didn’t have one.” About 600 Marine Corps drill instructors shape the approximately 20,000 recruits who come to Parris Island annually into basic United States Marines. Parris Island is home to entry-level enlisted training for 50 percent of males and 100 percent of females in the Marine Corps. (Photo by Lance Cpl. Aaron Bolser)
