Rct. Daniela W. Salinas, an 18-year-old native of Annandale Va., is currently training at Marine Corps Recruit Depot Parris Island, S.C., in hopes of earning the title United States Marine. Salinas is training with Platoon 4035, Oscar Company, 4th Recruit Training Battalion, and is scheduled to graduate Oct. 16, 2015. “I joined to create a career that will constantly challenge me no matter how old I am or what I’m doing. I joined to always be pushed.” Salinas graduated from Annandale High School in 2015. Approximately 20,000 recruits come to Parris Island annually for the chance to become United States Marines by enduring 13 weeks of rigorous, transformative training. Parris Island is home to entry-level enlisted training for approximately 50 percent of males and 100 percent of females in the Marine Corps. (Photo by Lance Cpl. Aaron Bolser)
