Rct. Daniela W. Salinas, an 18-year-old native of Annandale Va., is currently training at Marine Corps Recruit Depot Parris Island, S.C., in hopes of earning the title United States Marine. Salinas is training with Platoon 4035, Oscar Company, 4th Recruit Training Battalion, and is scheduled to graduate Oct. 16, 2015. “I joined to create a career that will constantly challenge me no matter how old I am or what I’m doing. I joined to always be pushed.” Salinas graduated from Annandale High School in 2015. Approximately 20,000 recruits come to Parris Island annually for the chance to become United States Marines by enduring 13 weeks of rigorous, transformative training.
