A 47-foot Motor Life Boat is moored in the boathouse at Coast Guard Station Neah Bay, Wash., Sept. 15, 2015. The 47-foot MLB is capable of operating in 57 mph winds, 30-foot seas and 20-foot surf, which comes in handy as the unprotected coastline within the station’s area of responsibility can become extremely hazardous to small craft during periods of heavy weather.
