"The first year when we were putting the pictures on the boots, at about the 30th boot in, I got to a personal friend's boot and it was just so overwhelmingly emotional for me. I said, ‘So if I can do this, think about how the family of that fallen hero feels,’ so that’s what brings me back every year.
