A military service member wearing Navy Working Uniform (NWU) and hearing protection is performing maintenance or repair work on a valve or fitting mounted on a metal wall or bulkhead. A second service member in NWU is visible in the background standing upright. The setting appears to be aboard a naval vessel based on the uniform patterns and industrial environment.

150825-N-FO981-014 SAN DIEGO (Aug. 25, 2015) – Seaman Bismark Gbede sands the starboard accommodation ladder platform aboard the amphibious assault ship USS America (LHA 6) in preparation for painting. America is currently moored at Naval Base San Diego and receiving upgrades while undergoing a post-shakedown availability (PSA). PSA is a period in which the ship’s crew and contractors make improvements to the ship’s design. Every new ship conducts a PSA that is designed to harness results of a thorough test and evaluation period and pave the way to operational employment.
