Don Merrit, Horn Point Hatchery Program director, explains the process of oyster reproduction to Col. Ed Chamberlayne, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Baltimore District commander, and Myrna Edelman Cardin and Sen. Ben Cardin on a tour as part of Sen. Cardin's "Hope in a Half Shell" campaign at Horn Point Hatchery in Cambridge, Md., Aug. 25, 2015. Horn Point Hatchery is where the Oyster Recovery Partnership gets the baby oysters to place on the reefs the Army Corps constructs for Chesapeake Bay restoration efforts. The purpose of the following panel was to speak with watermen and stakeholders on how to better support oyster aquaculture in the region.
