Nationwide Move 15 showcases unique, historic, multi-component ocean-transport mission

An Army Reserve Soldier from the 432nd Transportation Company, 346th Transportation Battalion guides a vehicle at Port Ponce, Puerto Rico, Aug. 22 after it was loaded with equipment from the Army Logistics Support Vessel 8, the Maj. Gen. Robert Smalls. The ship, one of only a handful in the Army’s arsenal was delivering ammunition and supplies to the Puerto Rican Army National Guard. The historic one-day mission was the first time Army transportation assets had been used to deliver the crucial ammunition to the island, and its use saved more than $1 million and provided valuable training in transportation and coordination between all three components of the U.S. Army as well as the U.S. Coast Guard, Department of Homeland Security and a host of civilian law enforcement agencies and civilian contractors. The mission was a part of exercise Nationwide Move 15. NWM is an annual Army Reserve approved functional training exercise designed to provide Reserve Component transportation units with valuable, realistic training, by conducting real-world operations in support of Continental United States (CONUS) activities.
