A soldier with the Ukrainian Army's 703rd Engineer Regiment holds a flag, brought from Ukraine's conflict zone, to be raised during the independence day ceremony Aug. 23, 2015, in L'viv, Ukraine, as a symbol of pride for Ukraine's military. Several units from Ukraine's ministry of the interior and defense brought flags, signed by soldiers serving in Eastern Ukraine, to be raised alongside Ukraine's national flag. U.S. Army paratroopers with the 173rd Airborne Brigade came to L'viv to celebrate Ukraine's independence day with their Ukrainian partners. The paratroopers are in Ukraine for the second of several planned rotations to train Ukraine's newly-formed national guard as part of Fearless Guardian, which is scheduled to last through November.
