A “Dyno” rests inside the Test Cell building on Marine Corps Air Station Futenma, Okinawa, Aug. 11. The “Dyno” simulates the engine running as if it were installed in a helicopter. It is one of the tools Test Cell Marines with, Marine Aviation Logistics Squadron-36, Marine Aircraft Group 36, 1st Marine Aircraft Wing, III Marine Expeditionary Force, use to ensure the engine is safe for flight. “We’re the last security checkpoint before the engines are issued out to the squadrons,” said Cpl. Yuliyan Shvartsman, a Test Cell engine operator. “Lives of other Marines (are at stake) and it’s up to us to make sure (the engine) is safe for flying.”
