From a firing point, tankers in an M1A2 Abrams Main Battle Tank fire the 120 mm canon during a combined arms live fire Aug. 19 at the Crittenberger Multi-Purpose Range Complex. Soldiers from Company A, 2nd Battalion, 12th Cavalry Regiment, 1st Armored Brigade Combat Team, conducted the exercise involving M1A2 Abrams Main Battle Tanks, M2A3 Bradley Infantry Fighting Vehicles, AH-64 Apache Attack Helicopters, 120 mm artillery, dismounted infantry maneuvers and mortars. The exercise was part of 1st ABCT’s "Ironhorse Challenge" Aug. 10-22, in preparation for the armored brigade’s upcoming decisive action rotation at the National Training Center at Fort Irwin, Calif., in October.
