Staff Sgt. Miriam Hernandez, 359th Aerospace Medicine Squadron Aerospace and Operational Physiology technician, lectures students on the use of their altitude chamber equipment and procedures to ensure their comfort and safety during training April 8, 2015, at Joint Base San Antonio-Randolph, Texas. Any students with Air Force specialties including enlisted aircrew, pararescue, remotely piloted aircraft, introduction to fighter fundamentals or pilot instructor training must first learn about human performance in airborne operations at the 359th Aerospace Medicine Squadron Aerospace and Operational Physiology Flight at JBSA-Randolph. A few tools used to train students include a Barany chair to help combat the motion sickness that comes with flying aircraft, an altitude chamber to familiarize students with hypoxia and a flight simulator for night vision goggle training.
